- 1968 - A civic reception was held in Manchester for United's victorious European cup winning team, however earlier in the day the team and Sir Matt visited Denis Law in hospital (recovering from a knee operation) to show him the trophy.
- 2007 - Ryan Giggs announced his planned retirement from international football with Wales after their Euro 2008 qualifier against the Czech republic on June 2nd. Like George Best, Giggs never played in a major international tournament and retired having made 63 caps.
Sunday May 31st -
- 1974 - Bobby Charlton was the first winner of the PFA (players Football Association) merit award, Denis law won it the following year on the same day.
- 1985 - As well as an FA cup winners medal that season, Mark Hughes added the PFA young player of the year award to his collection. It was the first time a United player had won that award. He won the PFA player of the year award on this day also in 1989 and 1991.
- 1993 - Ryan Giggs won the PFA young player of the year for the second year running.
- 1994 - Bryan Robson, Captain Marvel left United after picking up his second Premier League medal. He left after almost 13 memorable years at Old Trafford.
Monday June 1st -
- 1926 - John Berry was born in Aldershot. Berry went on to make 273 appearances for the Busby Babes before he was cruelly forced to retire from injury as a result of the Munich disaster in 1958.
- 1969 - Wilf McGuinness is named the new United manager following the retirement of Sir Matt Busby, Wilf a former Busby Babe had to retire in 1959 when he broke his leg and never played again. United however rewarded him with a coaching position shortly after and he was Sir Matt's chosen successor.
- 1998 - Lee Sharpe was signed from Torquay United for £185,000.
Tuesday June 2nd -
- 1894 - Clarence George 'Lal' Hilditch was born in Hartford, Cheshire. A full back with United from 1919-32 Hilditch became United's first ever player manager (Second was Ryan Giggs in 2014-15) in October 1926, when United's manager John Chapman was suspended by the FA for 'financial irregularities' and subsequently sacked. Hilditch took the reigns until the end of the 1926 season when Herbert Bamlett became manager.
- 1951 - Arnold Muhren was born in Volendam, Holland.
Wednesday June 3rd -
- 1995 - Gary Neville made his International debut for England against Japan.
- 1982 - Bryan Robson scored twice for England against Finland in a 4-1 win, England were playing a World Cup warm up match before heading to Spain for the tournament.
Thursday June 4th -
- 1949 - Lou Macari was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. Macari played for United between 1972-84 and is now a regular pundit on the clubs TV station - MUTV.
- 1950 - In a tour match in USA, United and Atlas Club Mexico participated in a twelve goal thriller, the match finished 6-6.
- 1997 - Paul Scholes scores his first goal for England in a win over Italy.
Friday June 5th -
- 1963 - Bobby Charlton scored a hat-trick in England's 8-1 mauling of Switzerland in Zurich, it was the first time a United player had achieved such a feat for England.
- 1999 - In a Euro 2000 qualifier, Paul Scholes became the first England player to be sent off on home soil during a 0-0 draw with Sweden at Wembley.
Saturday June 6th -
- 1950 - United paid a British record transfer fee for a Keeper when they handed over £11.000 to QPR for Reg Allen.
- 1960 - Colin Gibson was born in Bridport, Dorset.
- 2007 - Portuguese winger Nani passed his medical at United in preparation for his transfer from Sporting Lisbon to United.
