- 1938 - Just two months after scoring a superb header against Man United for Swansea in a 2-2 draw, John 'Jack' Warner became a Man United player.

- 1990 - One of United greatest ever left backs joins United from Oldham Athletic for £625,000 - Denis Irwin. Irwin would go on and play for United for 12 years and make an impressive 529 appearances for the Red Devils.
- 1870 - James Rankin McNaught (Half back - 1893-98) was born in Dumbarton, Scotland.
Tuesday June 9th -
- 1981 - 'Big' Ron Atkinson becomes the new manager of Manchester United. Atkinson never finished a season with United outside the top four and was responsible for bring such players to the club as Captain Marvel - Bryan Robson. Atkinson's United won two F.A cups in 1983 and 1985 in the five years he was in charge, however Atkinson was sacked and replaced by Sir Alex Ferguson in November 1986.
- 1993 - Manchester United's Paul Ince became the first black player to captain England in a full international, England beat the USA 2-0 in Boston.

- 1957 - Peter Barnes (Forward 1985-87) was born in Manchester.
- 1969 - Ronny Johnson (defender 1996-2002) was born in Sandefjord, Norway.

- 1994 - Busby Babe and United and England legend - Bobby Charlton, was knighted for his long and distinguished service to football.
- 2004 - United complete the signing of Gabriel Heinze, Heinze was a 26 year old Argentine left back who cost £6.9million from PSG. Originally a fan favourite he became the villan after he was ousted in the LB slot by Patrice Evra and tried to force a move to our deadliest rivals - Liverpool.

- 1885 - Richard Holden (full back 1904-13) was born in Middleton, Lancashire.

- 1897 - Albert Pape (Forward 1924-26) was born in Elsecar, Yorkshire.
- 1997 - Chairman Martin Edwards publicly stated that no foreign imports would be paid more than current club stars Roy Keane and Peter Schmeichel, this was a result of having a £5 million bid accepted by Bayern Munich for Markus Babbel...United however bulked at his demand of £1.4 million per year in wages. Babbel went on to sign for Liverpool.

- 1970 - Bobby Charlton played his last game for England when he was substituted in the 3-2 extra time defeat to West Germany in the 1970 World Cup quarter final. It was Charlton's 106th cap and he scored 49 goals...still a record to this day.
